Photographing flowers and plants.
Photographing flowers and plants? Be prepared to get down and dirty! You will need to get to their level or lower in order to capture the horticultural details. A camping stool or groundsheet will protect your knees and clothes.
Shooting upwards from below the flower will isolate it against the sky, particularly if the sky is blue and the light is coming from the side. If you are using a macro-lens for close ups, focussing will be critical. Lock the camera in place on a tripod, put a windbreak in position to stop the petals fluttering, and focus manually. Depth of field will be needed at that distance, so choose an aperture of f11 or smaller
